The Re-Engineering system is something many of us have been looking forward to for some time. And the first impression it’s given shows that this system is off to a great start.
This system allows us to change the modifiers on gear using dilithium and a new “salvage” currency. Not all gear will work with it off the bat. Compatible items will have a "Re-Engineer" option on them when you right click them.
To change a modifier, hit the unlock button below it to allow it to be changed to a random mod. Being random, it is possible it may reroll to the same mod. You may change multiple mods at a time, which you'll want to do if needing to change multiple mods, as you'll get a little bit of a discount, as seen here.
*Note that these cost may be adjusted before launch.
Mods Being ReRolled | Dil | Salvage |
---|
1 | 500 | 350 |
2 | 900 | 700 |
3 | 1,200 | 1,050 |
4 | 1,400 | 1,400 |
5 | 1,500 | 1,750 |
Some important notes
- This system is not currently compatible with many items, such as set gear and hybrid weapons (weapons with 2 procs). Compatibility with more things will be added over time.
- Crafted mods like [Pen] can't be obtained or removed via this system. If a weapon has [Pen] on it, it will always have it. And if it does not, it will never get [Pen].
- You can see what mods you can get in a slot by hovering your mouse over the mod.
The Epic Space Weapon mods are the hugest change to me, as they allow for quite a huge jump on some weapons.
You can see all possible space weapon epic mods in this picture.
Epic space weapon mods have 3 mods. The two seen in the mod name, and a hidden [Dmg]. If the epic mod has a /Dm] in it, that 1.03 Dmg multiplier turns into a 1.06 multiplier.
See Borticus's comment here for more information.
Thus, the two kings here are the [CrtD2] and [CrtD/Dm] mods. [CrtD2] = 40% CrtD + 1.03 Dmg Multiplier. [CrtD/Dm] = 20% CrtD + 1.06 Dmg Multiplier.
Tips
As is, the best non-exploit way to get salvage is to mass craft and salvage Mk II VR Weapons / Consoles. Each VR Mk II gives 50 salvage. So every 7 will get you enough salvage to cover the salvage cost for a single mod reroll. 7 Mk II weapons take nearly nothing to make, so this shouldn't be an issue.
For buying weapons on the market, if you're looking at UR, I'd look for only one off-mod. For Epic, you should be fine to have 2 off mods. Remember that even current "optimal" weapons will need to be rerolled for their epic mod with this, so don't go too crazy buying weapons that need nearly every mod changed.
This should cause a huge crash in the price of most lockbox and high end weapons, so be ready to get the weapons you didn't think you'd ever be able to afford.
