Alahan Swordsmen

Swordsmen are the blade that the Barhans thrust into their enemy´s side…Or against which enemy troops break like waves. Their two handed sword gives them rare striking power. But still it is nothing compared to their master strike.

Supported by a bard whose spell guarantees they will not fail a roll, they also have access to a war staff. The musician makes them harder to touch and the standard bearer reinforces their determination in combat. If there ought to be only one kind of elite soldiers, it ought to be the swordsmen.

Reapers of Alahan

The reapers of Alahan are young nobles who have developed a combat style on the margin of traditional techniques. Without armor or steed, they have enriched the fencing of swordsmen with the art of gun fighting, integrating pistols into their own way of fighting a war. Dauntless and impertinent, the reapers of Alahan will disobey orders and rush through enemy lines in search of some feat of arms to accomplish. Their survival is as much to do with courage as with stealth and boldness: it isn´t uncommon to see reapers serenely strolling through an enemy encampment, relying on their opponent´s stupefaction and the cheek of their move to avoid combat.

Missan

Misan (The Barony of Doriman): 135 A.P. (3 Elixirs)

Misan is an excellent leader for units including a large number of fighters. The latter are indispensable as they help him call communions. The Book of Revelations gives him a large choice of communions, making him a valuable faithful. However, beware of asking the gods for more than Misan can handle: though he has access to all the communions, he might still have problems calling the more difficult ones!
Misan is of no use in hand to hand combat. It is therefore wise to keep him away from mêlées. A supporting role suits him perfectly, considering that his low strategic value allows him to be fielded cheaply. And even if he is slain, resurrecting him will not jeopardize your victory.

Salias

Salias Yesod (The Laboratory of Cadwallon) : 225 A.P. (5 Elixirs)

Salias Yesod is a commander, a warrior and a technomancer of the best kind available. He finds his place in assault units since he is gifted enough to give any opponent a hard time while limiting the effects of any possible backlash thanks to his survival instinct. The addition of a few rituals will guarantee that no enemy survives the first engagement.
If he is the Commander, Salias Yesod can also be deployed in a second line unit in order to remain out of the enemy´s reach.

SARDAR TILLIUS

Sardar Tillius is an excellent commander and a skilled fighter. He can slay his enemies in hand to hand combat just as well as let a storm of rituals loose on them, all the while leading his army with intelligence.

If he is not accompanied by one or two warrior mages, he will still provide the support of a powerful Incarnate to his troops, which he can further reinforce with one or two rituals such as Haste to facilitate the advance of his troops or Storm of Light to strike down his enemies.
However, when his unit includes a couple of warrior mages to help him with his rituals, Sardar unleashes all his might. The most expensive rituals are then accessible and he casts them with terrifying ease. When he is accompanied by 7, his lucky companion, Sardar becomes the ideal ally, since he can use rituals picked from any Army Book!

Lion: BALLISTA

The ballista of Alahan constitutes the best piece of artillery that could ever be built without resorting to gun powder, steam or naphta power.
The ballistae are famous for the quality of their crewmen, who are true artillery artists: the speed and the accuracy they display as they load and aim ballistae leaves a good many archers speechless.

Interview with a sculptor: RAFAL ZELAZO (part 1)

- CHO : How did you become a sculptor?
Rafal : Around the age of fifteen, I discovered fantasy universes through role playing games. I tried a lot of them for two years, some famous and others not so famous. Among the not so famous ones, I still have fond memories of those inspired by the works of Andrzej Sapkowski (a Polish fantasy novelist). I don´t know if this writer is known outside of Poland, but being a Pole myself, I am familiar with his novels and they still inspire me today.
Around seventeen, I discovered in my home town of Łódź (Poland) a tiny shop that sold miniatures. I immediately fell in love with them even though these miniatures did not have the level of detail or finishing we are used to today. I first started painting these miniatures using modelling paints…with more or less satisfying results. I then went on to acrylic paints with obviously better results! The next step was some conversion work to adapt the miniature to the character I played in the role playing game.
Finally, with the release on the market of a sculpting material called "Kneadatite" I was able to dedicate to creating a complete miniature!

- CHO : How did you join Studio Rackham?
Rafal : To me, sculpting miniatures was purely a hobby and I never expected to make it my trade. At the time, I had no idea of the potential of the gaming miniatures market. I never imagined that thousands of players around the world enjoyed painting and sculpting miniatures!
I decided to go on with my studies to become an architect and an urban designer, putting my passion for miniatures aside for a time. Over the years, I eventually realized that this was not my kind of job and that I missed something essential: the satisfaction of creating something tangible that could be looked at from all angles. When I became aware of this need, I started applying to work for a studio such as Rackham.
At first, I didn´t dare send my CV to Rackham even though it was my dream to work there. I didn´t believe I was good enough. A friend of mine managed to convince me (thanks again Margot!), so I sent my CV with a few pictures to studio Rackham…and here I am today!

- CHO : As part of Rackham studio, do you have a specialty? If you do, what is it?
Rafal : I have made most of the plastic miniature for the Lion army, including the cavalry. I have also made the Griffin cavalry.
So I am specialized in the Confrontation universe, and more specifically in humans belonging to the Ways of Light.

Vorschau (Löwen) : Unit Box Guards

The guards of Alahan are volunteers, commoners without money, poor peasants and penniless craftsmen willing to fight for the ideals of the kingdom.
All guards are given a weapon and armor by their lord. They go through a short training period in order to learn the basics of the art of combat.
The primary quality of a guard is neither the strength of his arms nor the sharpness of his sword, it is his loyal heart and unfailing bravery that are his sharpest weapons!

Vorschau (Löwen) : Attachment Box Guards

Firmly holding their shield and fitted with solid armor, the guards of Alahan are the backbone of any Barhan offensive. Even fear has little effect on these heralds of Light and Virtue, especially when they are accompanied by a standard bearer. The guards´ attacks are devastating when motivated by the military tunes of a musician.
Supported by an agent of the Chimera, fearsome warrior mages capable of locking the power of Light into the weapons of their companions, the guards become formidable enemies and a great escort for Barhan magicians.

The bloodthirsty predator is a further evolution of the wolfen. Invested with the magical powers of nature, they develop bonds with immortal forest spirits. Predators first appeared on the territory of the Red Oak pack. They can now be found in any pack. The rune guardians see them a gift from Yllia.

On top of the food chain, the bloodthirsty predators have no rivals except the legendary worgs. Few wolfen reach the status of predator. Those who become bloodthirsty predators can boast about the countless battles they have fought. Their phenomenal strength and their animal-like aura are an undeniable gift from Yllia. They have what it takes to become leaders. On the battlefield, no-one can stand in their way and live.

Vorschau Löwen

The valkyries are protected by the best armor of the sorority of Azël and they wield the most dangerous weapons in the Barhan arsenal. In addition, they are trained by the most skilled sisters in the order. Their armor makes them better than units of similar rank. Their long curve-bladed spears, called fauchards, allow them to strike their enemies over several rows. When helped by a pythia, their ardor in combat is increased tenfold, so much so that even death cannot stop them. Accompanied by one or two disciples, they reach the summit of their art of war, dealing so many blows that nothing can resist them.

Interview with a sculptor: RAFAL ZELAZO (part 2)

- CHO : On what piece do you work at present?
Rafal : We are several sculptors to work simultaneously on the army of the Ram. It is quite new for me; I´m working on the ghouls.
It is also a big challenge because I am a big fan of the previous ghoul miniatures realized by Stéphane Simon. I am going to bring my own style to the new plastic ghouls and to their flying version.

- CHO : What are the most emblematic miniatures you have sculpted?
Rafal : Misan that the fans discovered recently, and Sardar Tillius for the new plastic army of the Lion. The plastic cavalry of the Lion and Griffin are also a part of the most symbolic pieces that I sculpted.

- CHO : What is the piece you are most proud of? And why?
Rafal : The templar commander Thurbard (on his horse or on foot), because its artwork was very impressive and already shown how charismatic this character was. The new plastic miniatures have to give the same impression. I took a lot of pleasure in making them.
I also love the chaplain templar who is the last miniature in metal which I realized.

- CHO : What piece represented your biggest challenge? And why?
Rafal : The cavalry of the Griffin sculpted in association with Sebastien Labro which we made specially for the plastic production! These miniatures are composed of a great number of pieces. Their sculpture were very complex for that reason.

- CHO : Did the new plastic miniatures change anything in your work?
Rafal : No, not really. The main change comes from the necessity to see and understand an army as a whole, to create a real coherence. It was not the case for metal miniatures.
I was afraid that such work was boring, even difficult to set up, considering the appropriate style of every sculptor. Fortunately, we work very well as a team. Everything was organized without any trouble.

- CHO : A small word on your expectations as a player?
Rafal: I am not really a player because at the beginning I played a lot to have the pleasure of manipulating miniatures! I recently played The Witcher on PC, whose scenario is based on the universe of Andrzej Sapkowski. I am a fan of this author. I recommend you read some of his works.

Wo du immer deine Infos her hast? Dafür, dass AT tot sein soll, geht es im deutschen Forum aber recht lebendig zu.

Nebenbei sind die Bilder älteren Datums und bei neueren Posts wird schon verkleinert oder verlinkt.

Aber stimmt. Das deutsche Forum ist alles andere als tot. Die drei Beiträge pro Woche, die nach dem Erscheinungsdatum des deutschen Red Block Buches fragen, halten es gut in Schuss.

ich sage wirtschaftlich tot das heißt es ist für Ladenhändler unattraktiv.
Es gibt nicht genug umsatz um den Regalplatz den es verbraucht zu rechtfertigen die wenigen die es spielen Locken zu wenig neueinsteiger an also führen die meisten Geschäfte das nur auf Bestellung und wenn es nicht sofort verfügbar ist kaufen die meisten nicht und bestellen im I-Net.

Und wenn es keine Ausstellfläche gibt lockst du keine Einsteiger an und das fehlen von deutschen Bücher und Regeln macht es nicht einfacher neu Kunden zu gewinnen. Der Zug für AT-43 ist abgefahren.

Ein Glück, dass du nicht zu entscheiden hast was die Leute spielen und was nicht.

Ich entscheide überhaupt nicht was andere spielen das kann jeder für sich selbst entscheiden und wenn er das nicht schaft ist er nur ein dummes Konsumschaf und für ihn kommt jede Hilfe zu Spät.

Trotzdem ändert es nichts an meiner aussage das sowohl At-43 und auch Confro 4 deutlich an ihrer Attraktivität für die Händler eingebüßt haben.
Dies ist durch signifikate Fehlentscheidungen des dt. Vertriebs und die mangelne Unterstützung der Spielerschaft durch deutschsprachige Produkte bedingt.

Nützen tut sowas nur wenn es genug dumme kiddies gibt die alles Kaufen was man ihnen vorsetzt oder man etwas hat das einfach zieht (FoW ist mit seinem (für meinen geschmack gräßlichen) WW II Thema sowas gelungen) und das bietet AT einfach nicht die anköder Zielgruppe wurde nicht angesprochen dann der unsagbar hohe Preis das ist das was Ladenhändler die Gewinn machen und überleben wollen einfach nen Dorn im Auge also verramschen sie ihre Restbestände (siehe Battlefield Evolution das man zeitweilig sogar unterm Händler EK bekommen hat hauptsache weg damit) und bestellen nichts nach.
Also verpasst die zielgruppe neues und Stürzt sich auf die Versandhändler die sowas gelegentlich noch haben. Aber so erreicht man keine neuen Käuferschichten.
Ergo ist es nur ein weiteres Totes Spiel an das sich einige wenige Fanboys klammern, genau wie D&D Minatures oder Battletech (was es auch noch gibt aber selten mal in einem Laden, was ich schade finde denn ich spieler gern BT)

Bitte Leute, bleibt auf dem Teppich, ich weiss nicht warum ihr streitet, und ich will es auch nicht wissen.
Mich interessieren die Neuigkeiten in Sachen Confro ( AT 43 und die Plaste Minis von Confro allerdings weniger.)und nicht eure persöhnlichen Angriffe gegeneinander.

Wenn ihr streiten wollt( aber bleibt sachlich),klärt das via PN. So wie jetztwird der Thread nur kaputt gemacht.
